Professor Breit heads the Inflammation and Cytokine Biology Research Program at St Vincent's Centre of Applied Medical Research as well as being a Clinical Immunologist and Immunopathologist at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney.
Prof. Breit is a Conjoint Professor of Medicine at UNSW, with over 180 peer reviewed publications, and is an inventor on many patents. His research has focused on two molecules, which his group first discovered and characterised over a decade ago: CLIC1 and MIC-1/GDF15 (now GDF15).
Prof. Breit collaborates widely and maintains an active research program, involving postdoctoral scientists and PhD students, in his pursuit of translating laboratory discoveries into practical medical applications.
