The Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology (CPT) team is dedicated to optimising the efficacy and safety of medicines. Supported by the work conducted by the CPT Analytical Laboratory Program, the team contributes to improved patient outcomes and research discoveries across a range of clinical areas, including:

  • Therapeutic drug monitoring studies
  • Gout studies
  • Back pain studies
  • Metformin studies in Alzheimer’s disease, liver disease, and kidney disease
  • Pharmacoepidemiology studies, including studies investigating quality use of medicines, drug safety in pregnancy and the efficacy and safety of psychotropics
  • Electronic medication management studies
  • Mental health and addiction, including psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, depression, and amphetamine addiction
  • Pain management
  • Pharmacoeconomics studies
  • Health services research, including clinical service evaluation
